Vehicle health check in Leeds, before you drive, test or sell
Sometimes you just want to know where your car stands. A vehicle health check is a thorough inspection before a long journey or a sale. Our mobile vehicle health check in Leeds takes about 30 minutes at your home or workplace. We look at the tyres, brakes, fluids, lights and underbody, photograph anything we find, and give you a clear written summary.
It’s the quickest way to avoid unpleasant surprises, such as a failed test, a breakdown miles from home or a buyer knocking money off at the last minute.
What the check covers
We work through a structured list so nothing is missed:
- Tyres, including tread depth, condition, age and pressures.
- Brakes, including pad and disc condition and brake fluid.
- Fluid levels and condition, including oil, coolant and screenwash.
- Lights, indicators, horn, wipers and washers.
- Battery condition and charging.
- Underbody, including the exhaust, suspension, steering and visible leaks.
- Visible belts and hoses, and any warning lights on the dashboard.
You get photos of anything that needs attention, so you can see what we see. We separate what needs doing now, what can wait and what’s fine, so you can make decisions without pressure.
When a health check is most useful
There are several moments when a check is particularly worthwhile:
- Before a long journey, when you want to be sure the car will cope with motorway miles and heavy loads.
- Before selling, so you can fix small problems and give buyers confidence.
- After buying a used car, to set a baseline.
- If the car feels different but you can’t say why.
If you’re thinking of buying, a pre-purchase inspection is the more detailed version for a car you don’t yet own.
What happens after the check
If we find something, we can usually fix it. Worn pads lead to brake replacement, a tired battery to battery replacement, worn tyres to mobile tyre fitting, play in the steering to suspension and steering repairs, and a leaking exhaust to exhaust repair. A dashboard warning light that needs an explanation goes to diagnostics and fault finding.
If the car is simply due its regular maintenance, a full service or interim service takes care of it, and an oil and filter change is the quick option. And if an air conditioning system isn’t cooling, we can arrange an air con regas before the warm weather arrives.
Why photos make the difference
A list of faults is easy to doubt, but a photograph isn’t. When we find a cracked tyre sidewall, a weeping shock absorber or a corroded brake pipe, you get a picture you can look at, share with a family member or show to a prospective buyer. It also makes it easier to decide what to fix first, because you can see how serious each item really is. Keep the report with your service book, and it becomes part of your car’s history, which many buyers value highly.
