1. Who we are
Mobile Mechanic Leeds (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a mobile mechanic service covering Leeds and up to 20 miles around. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used. You can contact us at hello@yorkshireseospecialists.co.uk.
2. The information we collect
We only collect what we need to respond to you and carry out your job. Depending on how you deal with us, this can include:
- Enquiry details: your name, email address, mobile number (if you give one), and anything you write in the quote form or in an email to us.
- Vehicle details: make, model, registration number and the symptoms or work you need. A registration number can identify you when it is linked to your name or address, so we treat it as personal information.
- Location and timing: the postcode or address where the car will be, and your preferred day or time.
- Job and payment records: the work we carried out, parts fitted, invoices and records of payment.
- Technical information: basic data such as your IP address and browser type, which our website hosting provider records in server logs for security and to keep the site running.
3. How we use your information, and why
Under UK data protection law we must have a lawful basis for using your information. Ours are:
- To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote — taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To carry out and record the work you book, including keeping a service record — performing our contract with you.
- To issue invoices, keep accounts and meet legal obligations — complying with the law.
- To handle questions, complaints and warranty claims, and to protect or defend our legal rights — our legitimate interests.
- To keep our website secure and working properly — our legitimate interests.
We do not send marketing messages unless you have asked us to, and we do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed with:
- Service providers who help us run the business, such as website hosting, email, scheduling, payment and accounting providers.
- Parts suppliers, where we need to give vehicle details to source the correct parts.
- Professional advisers such as accountants and insurers.
- Regulators, law enforcement or other authorities where the law requires it.
Where a provider is based outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place for the transfer.
5. Cookies and third-party services
Our website uses only the cookies and similar technologies needed to make it work, unless you agree to others. If we use analytics or advertising tools in future, we will say so here and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.
Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser contacts Google’s servers, which means your IP address is shared with Google. You can read about how Google handles this in its own privacy policy.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep enquiries that do not lead to any work for up to 12 months, then delete them. Records of work carried out, invoices and payments are kept for up to six years, so that we can meet accounting and tax requirements and deal with any warranty or legal queries. Server logs are kept for a short period only.
7. Keeping your information safe
We take sensible technical and organisational steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including limiting access to the people who need it. No online system is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive details such as card numbers by email or through the quote form.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, where we no longer need it;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests;
- ask for your information in a portable format, where it applies; and
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we are relying on it.
To use any of these rights, email hello@yorkshireseospecialists.co.uk. We will normally respond within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first, and some information we must keep by law.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date at the top showing when it was last changed.
